In a joint statement, NPAC convenor Theje Therieh, co-convenor Shikuto Zalipu and secretary Khondao Ngullie pointed out that when the Framework Agreement(FA) was signed between the government of India and NSCN (I-M) on August 3,2015 , the government “in haste” proclaimed it internationally. However, despite conclusion of talks after 26 years of negotiations, NPAC said the government of India instead left Naga political solution in the limbo.
NPAC lauded that the after having soft pedalled negotiations and keeping it alive, the government of India is again using Naga solution as a political plank to be fished every five years.
NPAC called upon the prime minster to “prevail and to be honest” with the people of Nagaland and also urged upon him to “tell us the truth and not the reiteration of rhetoric” as time has come for Nagas to know about what lies in the future for them.
