NSCN (I-M) firm on Naga flag and constitution

NSCN (I-M) has once again reiterated its firm stand on the issue of the Naga flag and constitution, NSCN (I-M) MIP said in a press note.
Addressing the Tatar Hoho Budget Session of the GPRN held on March 23 at the Council Headquarters (CHq), Hebron, NSCN (I-M) chairman Q. Tuccu said that the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks, that has entered a critical stage, was being watched with much curiosity by the people around the world “because it matters how the Naga people rise up to the occasion to defend their political identity as symbolized by the Naga national flag and the constitution (Yehzabo).”
Asserting that no one could afford to waver in this crucial stage, Tuccu said “We have to take our stand no matter what the heat of the pressure that may come”.
He called upon the NSCN members to exercise revolutionary responsibility to forbear any hardship which may come our way. “We must look forward and display fortitude to carry on with our struggle,” he added.
Imna Along slammed
Meanwhile, reacting to the speech of minister Temjen Imna Along on the floor of the house over government of India’s rejection of demand for inclusion of Naga flag and the constitution for solution, NSCN (I-M) said that his “nonsense utterance” has once again put himself in the “hot glare” of the Naga people.
NSCN (I-M) through its MIP said Along was “utterly insensitive” to the reality of the Naga history and as “God’s given political identity as a nation and as a people.”
MIP slammed Along’s remark saying it only exposed his “heartless and cruel mentality exploiting every given opportunity to castigate the very symbols” that identified Nagas were not a lost people. MIP asked- “Who is Temjen Along who defiantly chose words to go headlong against the Naga people’s political identity with his infuriating statement saying ‘Flag and constitution are not achievable’?”.
It said Along as “a boy of yesterday in political arena”, was, however, in a “damning hurry” to make his presence felt by “dancing madly” to the “anti-Naga tune” played by his “political mentors, RSS/BJP.”
It said even before Along was born, thousands of Naga people have attained martyrdom defending the legitimate historical and political rights of the Nagas as symbolized by the Naga flag and the constitution.
MIP said “many have embraced death to give a better future to our motherland.”
According to MIP, the rainbow flag of the Naga nation was something very uniquely made and which symbolized the covenant between God and the Naga people that was designed as divinely inspired and was not the brainwork of anybody.
Further MIP, maintained that Naga people cannot be “so unfaithful and treacherous to forsake what God has given to lead them as a nation and as a people.”
While asserting that it had no objection to Along’s “desperateness” to establish his political base backed by “his mentor BJP/RSS”, the NSCN (I-M), however, cautioned that in the process he should not fiddle with the Naga flag and the constitution, which it said were “too big for his size.”
NSCN (I-M) stated that Along has proved himself as “recklessly immature” to touch on the sensitive Naga issue at such a critical stage. It said that Naga flag and the constitution were something “too big for his flamboyant political gamble.”
