NSDMA ‘Aapda Mitra’ trg commences

A training called “Aapda Mitra training” organised by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department in collaboration with the Home Guards, Civil Defense and SDRF and supported by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) commenced Saturday at Central Training Institute (CTI), HG, CD & SDRF, Toluvi, Dimapur.
In a press release, secretary NSDMA (Home department), Lhouchalie Viya infomred that the training would cover 100 volunteers each from seven districts of the state namely Kiphire, Phek, Longleng, Peren, Mokokchung, Zunheboto and Wokha.
Viya said these districts have been identified keep in mind that these are vulnerable and disaster-prone areas.
At a brief inaugural programme, DCG HG, CD & SDRF, Medozhalie Pienyu while welcoming the participants informed that the CTI was established in the year 1989 and has been catering to various training programs.
In an introduction to the training, joint CEO, NSDMA, Johnny Ruangmei informed the participants that the training was going to be very useful even in their personal lives and urged them to take the training seriously to fully benefit from it.
In an inaugural address, secretary NSDMA, Achalie Viya spoke on the importance of team work and requested the participants to further train their own villagers for the benefit of all.
In a keynote address, joint advisor NDMA, Nawal Prakash emphasised on the importance of volunteering and stated that disaster management was not a one man show but a collective responsibility.
Informing on the shift of disaster management to a disaster risk reduction approach, he said that it was important to prevent and reduce the risk of disaster.
Further, Prakash informed that out of one lakh volunteers who would be trained across the country, 700 would be from Nagaland.
The inaugural programme was chaired by chief instructor, CTI, HG, CD &SDRF (nodal officer for Aadamitra from CTI), Avinuo and vote of thanks was delivered by assistant manager, (training and education), NSDMA and nodal officer for the Aapdamitra from NSDMA, Khrolou Koza Lohe.
