NSSA holds 1st general body meet; distt bodies get affiliation certificates

Nagaland Shooting Sports Association (NSSA) held its first general body meeting at 10-meter Indoor Range, NSSA on November 5, 2022.
In a press release, NSSA honorary secretary I G Xuivi stated that delegates from various district associations and club attended the meeting, which was held with the primary objective to enhance active participation of young shooters in various competition at all levels.
At the meeting, various agendas were discussed and after much deliberation, the house resolved on various agreed points. The house also discussed the upcoming events at the 4th Hornbill Shooting competition, which would be held from Dec 2-5 at NSSA Range, Dimapur.
In his speech, NSSA honorary president, T John Longkumer, honoured late Temjen Toy, (ex-president) and late Dr. N Iralu (ex-vice-president) along with the other ex-office members.
“It is their immense love for the sport and the hard work they poured in for the association and youth in particular and the whole of Nagaland in general, that the association proudly stands where it is today,” he said.
Taking into consideration the need to expand and promote shooting sports, the body granted affiliation to the district associations on September 29, 2022. Affiliation certificates were officially handed over during the meeting to Kohima
District Rifle Association; Niuland District Rifle Association; Wokha District Rifle Association; Zunheboto District Rifle Association; Peren District Rifle Association; Tuensang District Rifle Association; Phek District Rifle Association; Noklak District Shooting Sports Association; Chümoukedima District Shooting Sports Association; Tseminyu District Rifle Association; Dimapur District Rifle Association and Nagaland Police Rifle Club.
The meeting was chaired by NSSA honorary secretary general Neilasa Sopfii while NSSA working president JI Yaden invoked God’s blessing.
The history of shooting sports in Nagaland started with Kohima Rifle Club (KRC) in 1974 and then expanded to Nagaland State Rifle Association (NSRA) in 1990s and then transformed to NSSA on November 28, 2019. Presently, NSSA is registered under Registrar of societies, Government of Nagaland and also affiliated to Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA).
