NU organises workshop on ‘GIS Day’

In commemoration of its 25 years of existence (1997-2022), Department of Geography, Nagaland University Lumami conducted a one-day Workshop on “GIS Day” on November 25.
The workshop was inaugurated by NU vice chancellor, Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik as the chief patron. VC in his speech applauded the hard work and service rendered by the professors for the upliftment of the department and congratulated the department on completing 25 years. He further encouraged the department to collaborate for more projects.
A brief history about the department was delivered by Prof. Sangyu Yaden.
At the inaugural session, Chubawati Longchar from the Nagaland GIS and Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC) spoke on the topic “Space Based Information Applications and Activities in Nagaland”.
In the second session, Dr. C. Furkumzuk and Er. Atho Kesiezie from NGISRSC deliberated on application of UAV titled “UAV display and drone survey of NU Lumami Campus”. Hands-on demonstration of UAV was also conducted after the session.
The workshop was organized by the Department of Geography with Prof. Wangshimenla as coordinator and Dr. Kedovikho Yhoshü as organizing secretary. Altogether 95 participants participated in the Workshop.
