The first Open Table Tennis League – Season 1 concluded successfully on September 7 at Kohima Indoor Table Tennis Stadium with Seyievilie Seyie emerging as the Champion after an exciting duel between Ricky Hinglak (1st runner up) while the 2nd runner up title went to Ihubuing Haikube.
The Player of Motivation title was awarded to the single lady player Thejavinuo Rio who competed along with 32 registered players. Altogether 240 matches were played in 3 days for the Champion title.
A press release by Kohima District Table Tennis Association ( KDTTA) general secretary Vincent Belho stated that earlier in the program preceding the finals, guest of honor Kethosituo Sekhose (NCS) director youth resources and sports exhorted players to play fair and in sportsmanship spirit and informed of plans to build a proper stadium which can accommodate more discipline of sports.
He reminisced his love for table tennis and days when they played with note book covers over school table or dining table adding that table tennis discipline too must grow. He further emphasized on the need for a good coach availability and encouraged the players to pursue their dreams and attain the required criteria to become eligible to be a coach.
The Open TT League – Season 1 was sponsored by veteran players with a total Cash Award of Rs, 24,000/- along with certificates to players and is organized by Kohima Table Tennis Association.
