To commemorate “World Oral Health Day 2023”, Community Health Centre (CHC) Pungro led by Dr. Weri Mero, dental surgeon, conducted an oral health awareness camp on March 13 at Christian School, Pungro, Kiphire district.
In a press release, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kiphire office informed that at the awareness camp, many patients were screened, and dental check-ups, tooth extraction and temporary fillings, fluoride application to prevent cavities, among other services, were carried out.
During the camp, Dr. Mero briefed about the importance of oral hygiene for maintaining overall health benefits. He also stressed on the ill effects of consuming tobacco products, especially smoking and chewing gutkha.
The medical team also demonstrated proper brushing techniques to the participants.
Meanwhile, CMO office said the oral health camp was conducted to educate students and public about the importance of good oral health and dental hygiene keeping in mind that an unhealthy mouth, especially gum disease could increase risk of serious health problems.
