Oriental college annual sports kicks off

A three-day annual sports meet of Oriental College Kohima (OCK) commenced on November 2, at D Khel Ground, Seikhazou, Kohima.
The first event started off with 100m race for both men and women. In men’s category, Kevirudo (White House) bagged the gold medal followed by Kethosilie (Blue House) and Thenuozelhou (Blue) as silver and bronze medals respectively.
In women’s 100m race, Avoshelu (Blue) bagged the gold medal, silver by Veyevolu (White) and bronze by Chinkin (Red). The special guest also presented the medals and certificates to the winners.
Speaking at the opening ceremony as the special guest, Nagaland Building and Other Workers Welfare Board (NBOCWWB), Government of Nagaland, chairman, Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, appreciated the efforts made by the college to organize the annual sports meet and dwelt on how times had changed while living a fast-paced lifestyle.
He emphasized on the importance of sports, fitness, smart living and smart thinking in the rapidly changing and competitive world, and also advised the students to take up the sports meet not just as a 3-day event but as an opportunity to consider sports as a career.
Delivering the keynote address, principal OCK, Dr. Ketshukietuo Dzüvichü, informed that the three-day sports activities was part of the silver jubilee celebration. He also urged the players to inculcate the right sportsman spirit and to take the opportunity that was given to the students to excel, expose their hidden talents through the 3 days sports event with the willingness to participate and to grow.
The event commenced with the march past of the four different houses where the students marched in contingents to the beat of the Ladies Pipers Band from Kohima Village and the oath was administered by Games and Sports Secretary, OCKSU, Dziesetseizo Neichu.
The programme was chaired by general secretary OCKSU Changsie, invocation by Evangelical Union president, Laisang, while special number was presented by Sedevituo Solo.
