Orientation & coordination conference for NEPEx

An orientation and coordination conference via video conferencing was organised by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, government of India, in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), and with the participation of all District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) and line departments, Friday.


According to a DIPR report, the conference was hosted at the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohima Office.
The conference was convened in anticipation of the upcoming annual event, the Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) 2023 with the primary objective to assess the state’s readiness and capacity to respond effectively to various disaster scenarios. NEPEx 2023 would focus on simulating scenarios involving earthquakes and extreme weather conditions.


Kohima: For Kohima District, a Tabletop Exercise (TTEx) has been planned for November 1, 11 a.m. at the Conference Hall of DC Kohima Office followed by a Mock Exercise (ME) on November 2. All officials from the DDMA and line departments have been notified of their mandatory attendance at the TTEx.

Dimapur: An orientation and coordination meeting was conducted via video conference to plan the State Level Mock Exercise on Earthquake Disaster for Nagaland at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur Office. A Table Top Exercise was scheduled for October 31, and a statewide Mega Mock Drill Exercise on Earthquake Disaster for NEPEx on November.


The meeting was attended by DC and chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, additional deputy commissioner, Mhalo Humtsoe, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Yanthungbemo Kikon, and other district officials.
