Patkai Christian College holds talk on ‘World of Work’

DIMAPUR: Woman Cell and Gender Champion, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) conducted a programme on ‘World of Work: Preparing for the Future’ on April 2 at college campus.
In a press release PCC media cell stated that Nari Shakti Puraskar awardee and founder of YouthNet, Hekani Jakhalu Kense was the resource person. In her address, she highlighted the issue of unemployment in Nagaland. Addressing the students, Hekani said, “Youths in Nagaland are talented and creative but the biggest challenge is inconsistency”. Referring to statistics, she informed that Nagaland has the highest urban employment in NE region and highest rural-urban unemployment in the country. She expressed the need to reverse the statistics of unemployment rate in the state and called upon students to start early in deciding their goals. Manager, YouthNet, T Sepila Zhimomi, spoke at length on importance of skill development, internship and career guidance.
Later, an interactive session was held which was moderated by assistant professor, department of Economics Dr Imlisunep Changkery where students from various departments participated.
