Patton announces Rs.2 lakh ex-gratia, assures govt job to kin of slain policemen

Deputy chief minister, in-charge of Home, Y. Patton on Thursday announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh and government job to kin of two policemen– L/Naik T. Zewangba Yim of 2nd NAP (Rangers) and CN Kevisekho Khate of 10th NAP (IR), killed by their colleague CN Zeneise Yhoshü of 4th NAP at Lamhai Namdi on Tuesday night.
Patton, while conveying deep condolences to the bereaved family members of the two jawans, said that the Police Headquarter has been directed to send proposal to the government for appointment to the next of kin of the two deceased personnel in the police department on compassionate ground at the earliest.
Assuring thorough enquiry to determine the circumstances and other relevant facts that led to the incident, Patton said that the guilty would be awarded befitting punishment as per law of the land. He also urged the police department to initiate corrective measures for ensuring that no such untoward incident occur in the future.
KYO, MYO condole: Expressing shock and pain over the incident, Khonoma Youth Organization (KYO) and Merhüma Youth Organization (MYO) condemned the brutal killing of Kevisekho and Zewangba by their colleague.
In a statement, KYO president Sikolie Vakha condemned the merciless and cowardly act in the strongest term. KYO said the bizarre and barbarous act committed by Zeneise Yhoshü should be brought to justice at the earliest as per the law. The organization also conveyed sincere condolences to the bereaved families and relatives.
In another statement, Merhüma Youth Organization also expressed shock and mourned the tragic and brutal murder of CN Kevisekho Khate of 10 IR Bn and his comrade L/NK Zewangba Yim of 2nd NAP (STF) by CN Zeneise Yhoshü of 4th NAP.
MYO condemned the heinous crime to the highest term and demand justice at the earliest.
The organization further conveyed sincere condolences to both the families and relatives. “You will be remembered and deeply missed,” MYO stated.
