Patton inaugurates RCC bridge over Doyang

Deputy chief minister Y Patton Friday inaugurated Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) bridge over Doyang river, connecting Shena Old Village in Zunheboto district and N. Longidang Village in Wokha district.
In a press release, deputy chief minister’s office media cell informed that the bridge constructed under CRF was inaugurated in the presence of advisor Roads and Bridges (R&B) H Chuba Chang and Er. Picto Shohe, MLA.
In his speech, Patton said the idea to build the bridge was conceived in 2014 during community fishing and the foundation was laid in the year 2017.
Stating that the inauguration of the bride was realisation of a long-cherished dream, Patton said this new connectivity would shorten the distance, ease the burden of the people and would be “economically beneficial” for those plying the route.
He then urged the people to utilise the bridge for “economic activities” and not “illegal activities”.
Patton also lauded the contractor for “speedy completion” and thanked the people of Shena Old and N. Longidang villages for extending logistic support to the contractor and the department for timely completion.
In their speeches, advisor, H Chuba Chang urged the people to help each other in times of need and use the government property with care as their own while Er. Picto said that with the bridge being built, there was a need to construct better roads for commuters.
An introduction and brief report of the project was given by NPWD engineer-in-chief, Er. Kahuli Sema; Shena Old Baptist Church Pastor Rev. Tokishe Awomi said the dedicatory prayer and Longidang Baptist Church Pastor Echungthung Ngullie pronounced the benediction.
Earlier in the morning, Patton also inaugurated a village gate in N. Longidang village in the presence of district administration officials, district police officials, village council, VDB members, GBs, village elders and party workers.
Patton hands over ambulance to CMO Wokha
Patton on Friday, handed over an ambulance to the office of the chief medical officer (CMO) Wokha in the presence of depputy CMO and MO Englan to be utilised at PHC Englan.
This was donated by companies as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and assurance given to the deputy CM in November, 2021.
