BJP candidates- deputy chief minister, Y. Patton from 37 Tyui A/C and H. Khehovi from 33 A/C, NDPP candidate from 39 Sanis A/C, Mhathung Yanthan and intending candidates from other constituencies launched their election campaigns from their respective villages on Saturday.
Launching the campaign at Old Rihpyim village, Patton said the next government will give special emphasis on women empowerment and pave way for women in policy making. He was optimistic of a comfortable win in the upcoming election and stated that he will work towards upliftment of women at all levels of governance. Former MLA from 37 AC, Yankithung Yanthan also spoke in support of Patton.
H. Khehovi: The candidature declaration of H. Khehovi was held at Old Public Ground Suruhuto. Addressing his supporters, the BJP candidate expressed gratitude to the BJP party central and state leaders for reposing faith in him and issuing the prized BJP ticket to him.
Khehovi re-affirmed his commitment to work towards the uplift and development of Suruhuto-Asuto area and appealed to the electorates to cast their votes in his favor again.
Short speeches were delivered by Hekhushe Shikhu, former president Sumi Hoho, former candidates from the constituency Pukhato Achumi, Vihoshe Awomi and Holuto Aye, Vishito Kinimi, former PS to Ex.Minister,Khetoni, Mahila president and Tokishe Achumi, president Highway Area GB Association, Dimapur.
Mhathung Yanthan: MLA from 39 Sanis A/C, Mhathung Yanthan held a short declaration programme at the Lakhuti village playground.
Speaking at the declaration programme Yanthan said that much could not be achieved during the last five years with a setback of the global pandemic, yet he claimed that with the limited assignment and time he dedicated to the welfare of 39 AC.
He appreciated the leadership of Neiphiu Rio and informed the congregation that under the dynamic leader, the people and Sanis region will draw immense blessings.
The dedication prayer was offered by Rev. Ezanbemo Odyuo, pastor of Lakhuti Baptist Church.
Er. Kropol Vistu: The lone BJP candidate under Kohima district, Er Kropol Vitsu from 15 Southern Angami-II AC, launched the election campaign at K Khel ground, Viswema village.
In his speech, Vitsu, a former legislator (2013-18) sought blessings from the elders and hoped that he would get the chance to be able to work for the people of the constituency.
He regretted that he could not do much for the development of the constituency during his previous term because of internal crisis within the NPF party from which he had won earlier.
Dismissing the propaganda that BJP was a religious party he said religion and politics were totally different from each other.
Short speech was delivered by BJP Kohima district president Khrielie.
Ikuto Zhimomi: The candidature declaration of NDPP candidate of 34 A/C Aghunato, G. Ikuto Zhimomi was held at Khekiye village. He thanked all the rank and file of NDPP Central and his constituency for their constant support and trusting his leadership.
