PHE deptt assists DVC in disposing off garbage

While the response from police was prompt in preventing three wheelers from parking at the No Parking Zone at 2 ½ mile along the NH 29 near the airport , as published in Nagaland Post, it has taken several months to dispose off garbage dumped by the roadside at the same location.
The garbage was collected and disposed off by PHE department in collaboration with Darogapathar village Council and the shopkeepers Monday as part of observation of World Environment Day on June 5. This was disclosed to Nagaland Post by Head GB Darogapathar Yashimeren Ao.
The GB lamented that the Airports Authority had not responded to plea for assistance for maintaining clean environment in the area. After Monday’s cleanliness drive, the village has decided to impose Rs.5000 fine against those throwing garbage at public places.
The GB also expressed gratitude to PHED for assistance to the village and also expressed the hope that if civic body and public took initiatives for cleanliness within their jurisdiction, then Dimapur will become a cleaner city.
