Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Rural Division Dimapur, successfully commissioned the “Augmentation of water supply by gravity system and retrofitting with Functional Household Tap Connection under Jal Jeevan Mission” in Rüzaphema Village, Chümoukedima district on September 26.
According to DIPR report, the event was graced by Er Repangyangba Longkumer, Chief Engineer & Head of Department (PHED), special guest of honour. In his address, he commended the exemplary cooperation extended by the people of Rüzaphema village.
He acknowledged the fact that piped water supply had returned to the village after a hiatus of over 15 years.
The chief engineer also stressed the importance of not treating this scheme as an “orphaned” project but rather as an asset owned by the villagers themselves. He urged the community to diligently maintain the newly established infrastructure and operate it efficiently to ensure its sustainability for the entire designated period.
Residents of Rüzaphema village expressed happiness and relief as their long-standing desire for improved water supply had finally come to fruition. The program concluded with the declaration that Rüzaphema village has now achieved the coveted status of “Har Ghar Jal”.
