Phom Community Hall inaugurated

A newly constructed Phom community building at Signal Phom Colony, Dimapur was inaugurated by minister of Higher Education and Technical Affairs, Temjen Imna Along as special guest and Moatoshi Longkumer, MLA, as the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Along lamented that Nagas have forgotten about developmental works and only emphasized on gaining wealth during election or from the state government. He said that it was a privilege in constructing the community hall, adding that people of the area were more focused on helping and supporting a candidate with developmental agenda, and not monetary gains.
The minister said that if Nagaland was to be changed, citizens should not only blame politicians and politics but should changed themselves as well.
He further urged the youths to elect a leader who would stand for them and take their questions to the legislature, inspite of selling their agendas during election.
Further speaking on the seat sharing pre poll alliance between NDPP and BJP, he reiterated that the two parties would go ahead with the 40-20 seat sharing alliance and that no one should be confused.
On the Eastern Nagaland demand for separate state, Along expressed the hope that all deprivations, if any, could be discussed and solved, and that it was not a time for Nagas to be divided.
“Eastern Nagaland, we are with you and we don’t want to leave you”, he stated.
He said that it was now time for all 17 tribes of Nagas to come together and work together, claiming, “We are strong as only we are united”.
Also addressing the gathering, Moatoshi Longkumer in his speech informed that gathering that the building could be constructed due to support of minister Imna Along, who sanctioned the money from the ministry of Tribal Affairs.
He said that the community hall would serve benefit for the colony people and urged the gathering to continue to work together.
He also dwelled on the developmental activities carried out by him as an opposition MLA through the Local Area Development Plan (LADP) and how his commitment on women empowerment was fulfilled by forming more than 300 SHG’s under his constituency.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by GB, NT Thamlong Phom and invocation by associate pastor for women, SPBA, Shemlen, welcome address was delivered by president, SPUD, H Metjei and a short speech by council member, SAVC, Er Sashi Longkumer.
