PHQ ‘recalls’ erring police personnel involved in election campaigns

Following a complaint that some police personnel had allegedly been actively participating in election related campaigns by defying the PHQ order, the DGP’s office has listed out names of 20 such personnel and directed its respective unit heads to recall the personnel by February 24, 2023.
In an order, additional DG (L&O) Sandeep Tamgadge said that the personnel, including those under medical leave, were to report to the unit headquarters by February 24 and failing to do so would invite suspension.
ADGP also said that the personnel would not be utilized for any election related duties, adding that the order was issued with approval of the DGP, Nagaland.
The complaint lodged by NPP Mokokchung unit, claimed that the public of a particular constituency had enough evidence to prove the direct involvement of around 20 police personnel in civil dress, taking open and active part in campaigning in favour of a candidate.
