xpressing dismay over the “delay and slow progress” in the ongoing construction of all-weather road from Sanis Zero Point to Lakhuti Village under PMGSY II (2019-2020), the Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) on Tuesday served a seven-day ultimatum on the road construction firm M/S Northeast Enterprise and the responsible contractors to expedite the work and give a written assurance as to when the work will be resumed and completed.
LMRSU through its media cell stated that even after submitting a representation on May 12 2022, the registered company and the contractors failed to respond and chose to remain “mute and deaf.”
In the ultimatum, the students’ union warned that failure on the part of the firm and contractor would compel union comprising to initiate its own course of legal action.
Lamenting that work was progressing at a snail’s pace, the union said the work would be hampered with the onset of monsoon season, which would worsen road condition and cause inconvenience to the common public. LMRSU claimed that the contractor on March 24, 2022 verbally assured the union that the work would start within 15 days and completed in 45 working days using foreign technology.
However, Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union said that no progress has been made till date.
LMRSU has also appealed to the responsible department to intervene and initiate necessary action on the ongoing road construction at the earliest.
