Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi took a jibe at the Congress over the grand old party’s poll promise to provide free electricity in Karnataka if voted to power. Pralhad Joshi claimed that the Congress did not provide electricity during their regime, which in turn resulted in an increase in the population.
“Now, the Congress is saying that they will give free electricity. Do you believe that they will give free electricity? During their period, they never used to give electricity. In villages, there never used to be electricity. After PM Modi came to power, we (the BJP) are able to give 24-hour electricity,” Pralhad Joshi said.
He added, “Since they (the Congress) used to give less electricity, our population has increased.”
The BJP leader made the remarks in Karnataka, which is likely to go to polls by May.
The Karnataka Congress has promised 200 units of free electricity, every month, if it wins the upcoming state polls. The Congress had made the announcement during its statewide bus tour ‘Praja Dhwani Yatre’ in January.
