Power deptt to carry out raid, disconnection drive

Power department has informed all the electricity consumers of all categories (government consumers, bulk, industrial, commercial, domestic, VEMB and UEMB consumers) under Dimapur electrical division that raid would be conducted on defaulting consumers for non-payment of power bill (having arrears for more than two months), theft of power through hooking, tampering of Energy meters and pilferage of energy meters.
In a notice, electrical division Dimapur executive engineer Y Akito Sema said the exercise would be carried out at various locations under Dimapur electrical division with immediate effect without further notice. Therefore, all consumers have been reminded to clear their outstanding bills and to desist from the illegal activities in order to avoid inconvenience. EE said any person using power illegally was punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years or with fine or with both.
