Pranabananda Women’s College (PWC) conducts study tours

DIMAPUR: As part of its annual education tour programme, department of history of Pranabananda Women’s College (PWC) Dimapur conducted study tour to Sivasagar, Pilgrim Walk to Molungyimsen Village and Educational Heritage Village (Cradle of Formal Education in Nagaland) on April 1 and 2.
In a press release, the college informed that the study tour was conducted under the supervision of assistant professor, department of history, I. Imkongakum Ao along with 15 students.
The team visited Molungyimsen village, where formal education was started in the Naga Hills in 1878 and Christian Mission activities. The students with an aim to understand and experience the hardships and dedication of the missionaries walked the path from Clark Suspension Bridge, Milak River to Molungyimsen Village.
The students after reaching Molungyimsen village were welcomed by church leaders, followed by a seminar on “The Advent of Christianity and the Spread of Formal Education in Naga Hills”.
Later, the team visited Ahom Kingdom and monuments constructed by Ahom Ruler at Sivasagar including Shiva Dol, Talatal Ghar, Rang Ghar, Vishnu Dol, Sivasagar Tank, Joyasagar Tank, Gola Ghar etc.
Meanwhile, on April 2, department of commerce conducted an industrial tour to Cement Corporation of India (CCI) Bokajan, Karbi Anglong, Assam.
Students of the department of commerce along with faculty members visited the plant where they were enlightened about the manufacturer process which included learning the types of plant used for manufacturing cement, labour skill required, packaging and marketing of finished product.
