Preparations on for smooth conduct of assembly election

DIMAPUR: To ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of General Election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023, election observers appointed by ECI have been conducting meetings with officials and political parties.
Apart from this, the state election department as per the directive of ECI have also made arrangements for the senior citizens and PwDs to enable them to cast their votes.

KOHIMA

To facilitate the Absentee Voter in the category of Senior Citizen (AVSC) and PwDs (AVPD) who were entitled to cast their votes through postal ballot, the DC & DEO Office Kohima on February 18 initiated house to house postal ballot facility for the AVSC and AVPD listed under the district. The exercise was carried out by the polling teams in all the six Assembly Constituencies to enable the listed AVSC and AVPD to exercise their franchise through postal ballot.
In view of the forthcoming General Election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023, a review meeting by the Special Expenditure Observer, Nagaland Balakrishnan with expenditure-related officials of Kohima district was held at DPDB Hall, Kohima on February 17.
Expenditure Observers of Kohima district, DC & DEO Kohima, Superintendent of Police Kohima, all Nodal officers of enforcement directorate/Assam Rifles/Bank/Forest/CRPF and Nodal Officers Election Expenditure Monitoring Kohima attended the meeting.

DC Kohima informs political parties
DC and RO Kohima, Shanavas C has informed that the additional facilitation centre has been set up to facilitate the casting of the vote through the postal ballot.
He informed all the political parties to nominate Polling Agents for the facilitation centres to witness the process of voting: February 21 at Khuzama T.B. Hospital for E/Coy 10th IR Zhadima; SP Office Kohima for C/Coy 13 IR Yajang; NAP Rangers and 6 NAP Tizit.

PHEK

Second phase of training for polling officers in Phek.

The second phase of training for polling officials for Phek district began on February 17 at GHSS Phek. DC & DEO Phek, Kumar Ramnikant, General Observers, Suresh Kumar and Vijay Kumar P. Phad inspected the ongoing training.
According to DIPR report, the Master Trainers have been putting full effort in imparting various technical knowledge to the polling officials at the training.

NOKLAK

EAC & AEO in charge Noklak, Kathyinla has informed that Rapid Response Team for medical assistance to polling personnel and security has been constituted.
An official notification stated that rapid response team has been formed under the establishment of the Chief Medical Officer for Noklak Sadar to tackle any injuries following poll-related violence, accident, and illness of Polling personnel and Security guards during the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election, 2023.
The Rapid Response team comprised of Dr. Amonglima, MO (IAH); Washi Ponar, Staff Nurse; Ngepfe Pojar, Staff Nurse; Pushan, Dresser; Shiem K, Medical Attendant and Sampai driver. The Hospital Ambulance has been detailed for transportation of the RRT and also for patient transportation to District Hospital, Noklak.

SVEEP programme at PWC
Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held at the Pranabananda Women’s College, Dimapur on February 17.
The programme was organized by the Central Bureau of Communication Ministry of information and Broadcasting Field Office Kohima in collaboration with IQAC, Pranabanada Women’s College, Dimapur.
In the programme, DC Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal said with the assembly election drawing near, all the state government officials from the chief electoral officer to DC, SP, and Commissioner of Police have been functional. He reminded the gathering that they were the prime voters who have the right to vote for their future. He also urged the residents of the Lhomithi colony to come and cast more votes as in the last election it has the lowest turnout with 58 percent.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Swamiji Chinmoyanandaji Maharaj Joint Secretary PWC and vote of thanks by P. Sophie.
