Prez poll: Votes divided on religious lines, says NPCC

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has maintained that if “100% MLAs from a Christian state to vote for Hindutva presidential candidate” was true, then “Nagaland for Christ has transformed into Nagaland for Hindutva under the leadership of N. Rio.”
In a press release, NPCC president K Therie stated that in presidential elections it was completely a vote of conscience and the individual’s independent decision as there was no Whip. “We will see the wisdom of MLAs and MPs who represent a Christian State,” Therie said.
NPCC chief said that in India, it was no longer political or economic issues under consideration rather votes were divided on religious lines. He claimed that money and power have destroyed honesty and Christianity in Nagaland. Therie alleged that people have changed from worshiping God to worshipping money and power. “We have elected money and power which have been used to facilitate transformation to Hindutva,” NPCC president said.
