Priority to bring permanent peace in Nagaland: Sarma

Staff Reporter

Assam chief minister and North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor, Himanta Biswa Sarma maintained that the priority of the BJP for Nagaland was to bring about permanent peace and finding out solution for the Naga problem.
Sarma said this while talking to media persons at DC’s complex Chümoukedima, after arrival from Guwahati to accompany BJP candidate for Ghaspani-I AC, Jacob Zhimomi, to file his nomination papers for the ensuing election.
He further said that once NDPP-BJP government is elected, the focus would also be on developing the State. Sarma also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the request of the State BJP unit, was likely to campaign for the BJP-NDPP alliance in Nagaland. He disclosed that Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and other Central leaders would be joining the election campaign soon.
Earlier, talking to media persons on arrival at Dimapur airport, Sarma was optimistic that the elections will pave the way for final solution to the Naga issue.
“The process for finding out a solution of Naga political issue is going on. In every election, there are always people who will come and talk about their views on the solution. I believe the election will also pave the way for the final solution to the problem,” he said.
Expressing confidence that the NDPP-BJP alliance would sweep the 2023 elections, Sarma also said that the BJP has fielded promising and capable candidates like Jacob Zhimomi, who he said has performed extraordinarily well as PHE minister.
“We hope that the karyakartas of Nagaland BJP along with friends from the NDPP will work hard and we will form the government again,” Sarma said.
He also reiterated that BJP would continue its relationship with NDPP, pointing out that the alliance had been running smoothly.
Jacob was also accompanied by host of BJP party workers including national spokesperson and Nagaland in-charge Nalin Kohli.
