Public encouraged to utilise bamboo products

In an effort to lessen plastic waste which is detrimental for environment, member secretary, Nagaland Pollution Control Board and ENVIS Coordinator, ENVIS Hub Nagaland, K. Hukato Chishi has encouraged usage of bamboo products over plastic products.
In a press release, ENVIS Nagaland stated that Chishi was speaking as a guest of honour Friday at the inaugural function of Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP), a two-month certificate course on ‘’Value Addition and Marketing (Plant Origin): Bamboo Crafts”, conducted by ENVIS Hub Nagaland and organised by Nagaland Pollution Control Board.
Highlighting on the different products that could be made out of bamboo, Chishi encouraged the people to replace plastic with bamboo products in their day to day lives.
He also spoke on the importance of self-sustenance and encouraged the trainees to make best use of the course offered by the department.
Altogether 15 trainees would be undergoing the intensive training on bamboo crafts. The programme was hosted by programme officer, ENVIS Hub Nagaland, Limitsa S Sangtam; welcome address was delivered by senior scientific assistant, NPCB, Mhasizonuo Angami; a power point presentation on “introduction to GSDP” was presented by information officer, ENVIS Hub Nagaland, Khriehunuo Rutsa and vote of Thanks was delivered by the host.
The programme was attended by all the trainees and officials and staffs of Nagaland Pollution Control Board.
