Rani Gaidinliu statue installed in UP

A 3.5 feet statue (bust) of Rani Gaidinliu, freedom fighter of Zeliangrong tribe, has been installed in a public park in Rail Vihar colony, Gorakhpur UP.
The statue was unveiled by Sitaram Jaiswal, Mayor of Gorakhpur city on December 6 with the blessing of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, in the presence of luminaries from Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, RSS, BJP and other socio-cultural organisations of Gorakhpur. Mayor Sitaram said,” Rani Gaidinliu is true daughter of Bharatmata who fought against British for the freedom of our country”.
Sitaram termed the story of freedom struggle of Gaidinliu as a golden chapter in Bharatiya history and said that the life of Gaidinliu was a source of inspiration to everyone. Prof. Prithviraj Singh, RSS chief of Goraksh Prant of UP, who also spoke at the programme said, people in other parts of the country generally believe that “all Nagas are Christian and all Christian Nagas are anti-national. But this is not the fact. Neither all Nagas are Christian nor all Christian Nagas are anti – Indian”. Earlier, Jagdamba Mall highlighted the salient features of freedom struggle of Rani Gaidinliu against British invasion and Christian conversion.
The function was marked by Zeliangrong Heraka devotional song followed by Heraka dance presented by Naga students of Shri Ram Vanvasi Chhatrawas, Gorakhpur UP. The function began with worship of statue of Rani Gaidinliu with Ved mantras by Brahman priest.
The function was organised under joint venture of Sewa Samarpan Sanathan, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Municipal Corporation, Gorakhpur UP.
