The review mission for the 5th World Bank Mission for Implementation Support under National Hydrology Project was held at Niathu Resort, Chumukidima on May 27 to 28.
According to DIPR report, 16 Central and State implementing agencies of the National Hydrology Project from the East Zone participated in the review mission. The objective of the mission was to review the physical and financial progress of the project and identify the bottlenecks and bridge the gap in planning and implementation.
Delivering keynote address, Rakesh Kashyap said that the aim was to improve the extent, reliability, and accessibility of water resources information, strengthen the capacity of targeted water resource management institutions in India, and facilitate the acquisition of reliable information efficiently which would pave the way for an effective water resource development and management.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Kevisa Kense, secretary-cum-Project Coordinator, NHP, WRD, Nagaland.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Er. Hotovi Ayemi, Chief Engineer-cum-Nodal Officer (NHP), WRD, who also lighted the ceremonial lamp along with the dignitaries.
It may be noted that the programme was organized by Water Resources Department, Government of Nagaland under the aegis of the National Hydrology Project Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, RD&GR
Implementing agencies from the East Zone are Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Jharkhand, West Bengal (SW), West Bengal (GW), Odisha, Bihar (SW) Bihar (GW), Central Water Commission, Damodar Valley Cooperation (DVC) and Central Ground Water Board (CGWB). Subsequently, two review missions will be held in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu in June for the North, South, and West Zone Agencies.
