State to get Rs.39.28 cr as drought relief
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday called on Union Home minister Amit Shah at his office chambers at North Block on Thursday.
Taking to Twitter after meeting the Union Home minister, Rio said he and Shah held a “positive meeting” and expressed gratitude to Amit Shah for his unwavering support towards the State of Nagaland.
Rio was accompanied by NDPP president Chingwang Konyak, NDPP secretary general Abu Metha and NDPP vice president Rusemtong Longkumer.
Drought fund: High Level Committee (HLC) under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, has approved Rs 39.28 crore of additional Central assistance to Nagaland, which was affected by drought during 2021-22.
HLC also approved additional central assistance of Rs.1,003.95 crore to Rajasthan from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this additional assistance was over and above the funds released by the Centre to the States in the State Disaster Response Funds (SDRF), already placed at the disposal of the States.
Meanwhile, Rio also called on Union minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman. Rio said they both discussed various developmental issues and matters pertaining to Nagaland. “I am grateful to her for always being supportive of our State,” Rio tweeted.
