Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio along with deputy chief minister Y. Patton flagged off the ‘mob control truck ‘and Special Operations Group (SOG) vehicles for counter insurgency operations in the State.
Nagaland Police first mob control truck, designed by PHQ Motor Transport (MT), is equipped with hydraulic barricades, injectors to spray identification colours in 180-degree arc and has other inbuilt systems for effective crowd control. It is also equipped with bulletproof windshield and windows for added protection of the security personnel manning the truck.
The vehicle can be adapted to function as a Quick Response Team and can carry a section of armed jawans. With the hydraulic barricade fully extended, the vehicle can also be quickly deployed as an effective barricade spanning about 25 feet during emergencies.
Meanwhile, the SOG vehicles flagged off on Thursday would be deployed for two battalions of Nagaland Armed Police (IR), identified as the Special Operations Group (SOG) for CI Ops.
According to DIPR report, the State government procured various operational field level vehicles for the SOG and 44 vehicles for the State police force in order to operate in any part of the State and to ensure mobility and intrepidness.
