RLRR organizes regional quiz competition


Regional Level Red Ribbon (RLRR) organised quiz competition (East Zone) under the theme “Channelizing youth for healthy living” at Hotel Vivor, Kohima, Thursday.
The event was hosted by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society under the aegis of National AIDS Control Organisation, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi.
Nine teams participated in the competition from NE states; Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal.
There were four rounds namely: Round – 1 mixed bag, round 2: warming up, round 3: Beyond Boundaries and round 4: Do or Die.
Team from Assam emerged as winner of the competition who received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- along with certificates. Nagaland team secured second position while Meghalaya occupied third position. Nagaland and Meghalaya received a cash of 30,000 and 20,000 along with certificates respectively.
Manipur and Sikkim secured the consolation prize with Rs. 10,000 and certificates respectively.
The 1st prize winning team i.e team from Assam State will be participating at the National level to be organised by NACO during the month of January 2023.
Since its inception in 2020-21, the quiz competition has been actively engaging the youth, especially the Red Ribbon Club members. This platform has been creating a positive impact on the young people and helping them to gain more knowledge and information about HIV/AIDS, preparing them to be agents of change in the battle against HIV.
For Nagaland State AIDS Control Society, this was the second time hosting the regional level Red Ribbon Club quiz competition.
During the inaugural programme, DDG (IEC&MS), NACO, Dr. Anoop Kumar Puri, through the video clip gave a special address. Dr. Akuo Sorhie, Project Director, NSACS delivered keynote address. A short speech was delivered by consultant IEC & MS, NACO, Utpal Das.
Video clipping of H. Viputo Yeptho, winner (RRC National level quiz, 2021-22 sharing motivational talk was shown and Angami cultural song (Tati pfhe) was presented by Loziko.
The programme was moderated by joint director (IEC) NSACS, Metevinuo Sakhrie and the quiz master was Vincent Belho. The programme was attended by the officials from the nine State AIDS Control Societies, RRC Nodal Officers and Red Ribbon Club members.
