Rutsa Youth Organisation (RYO) celebrated its golden jubilee under the theme “Ignite the vision”, at Zieke, P Khel, Kohima Village, here on Thursday. Speaking at the event, chairman Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, commended the RYO and organising committee for successfully conducting the 2023 census, encompassing various aspects such as the demographic details of the Rutsa population, including farmers and employment statuses.


He praised the clarity of their census methodology and suggested that if all Naga citizens could adopt such an approach, it would be highly commendable meanwhile Dr. Keditsu also acknowledged the organization’s positive contributions to government servants, students, and the wider community.


Reflecting on the organization’s history, he acknowledged the hard work and foresight of its founding members and pioneers who, despite initial challenges, have propelled the organization to its current leadership position and Dr. Keditsu also emphasized on the importance of a career-oriented mindset over a sole focus on government jobs.


While acknowledging that not everyone shared the same level of enthusiasm, he recounted instances of clan members bravely participating in the May 16, 1951 Naga Plebiscite vote, showcasing resilience amid longstanding Naga issues.
Dr. Keditsu praised the organization for recognizing and honouring individuals from their clan who have excelled at state, northeast, and national levels in various fields. He highlighted the changing employment landscape in Nagaland, urging the youth to explore opportunities beyond government jobs.


He encouraged parents and students to consider entrepreneurship and private sector employment. Addressing concerns of youth facing depression and frustration, he suggested exploring entrepreneurship and private sector opportunities.
Dr. Keditsu urged the youth organization to uphold the legacy of their pioneers through peaceful coexistence and mutual support, stressing the importance of thinking creatively and not limiting oneself to traditional government roles in light of the prevalent unemployment among qualified individuals.


Senior member, Vilie-o Rutsa, recounted the historical journey of the Rutsa clan, highlighting their adoption of Christianity and Western education introduced by the British. He also urged members to foster unity, live harmoniously and value the positive precedents set by their leaders in establishing RYO.


Convenor of the planning and organizing committee for the jubilee, Dr. Vilatuo Rutsa, emphasized on the year filled with diverse initiatives preceding the golden jubilee, encompassing health camps, a tree plantation campaign, career guidance sessions, Christmas carol events, counselling programs, and charitable endeavors.


RYO advisor, Er. Medozhazo Rutsa, acknowledged the pivotal role played by Late Vimedo Rutsa and Late Rheilhoulie Rutsa in the organization’s formation, emphasizing the enduring impact of their efforts.
The invocation was pronounced by pastor Christian Revival Church, High School area, Dr. Peleneituo, welcome address was delivered by president Rutsa Rhüba, Medongulie and benediction was pronounced by catechist, Christ the King Church, Ruokuovituo and the program was chaired by convenor, programme committee, Keneingu.


Rutsa, a distinct clan within Pfuchatsumia Khel (P-Khel), is exclusively composed of Rutsa members and the Rutsanuomia census for 2023, conducted on December 28, revealed that the clan comprised of 220 households with a total population of 868 including 412 males and 456 females. The oldest member, Yavilhoulie, son of the late Vilhousa, aged 81 years old, while the oldest woman is Neiliehu-ü, wife of late Duosielhou, aged 93 years old.


The clan profile presented during the census indicated that the clan consists of 236 students, 136 government servants, 49 farmers, 88 individuals engaged in business, 14 taxi drivers, 88 private employees, 37 retired government servants, 117 unemployed individuals and 103 people were either infants or above 60 years old.
