SAMETI organises training for ATMA functioneries

State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organized a two days training programme “Scientific management of pond for effective fish rearing and value addition in fish” for ATMA functionaries at SAMETI, Medziphema from January 18 to 19.
SAMETI director, IETC principal, Medziphema Dr. Watimongla Jamir in a press release stated that during the training, the participants were trained on the topic of pond culture-principles and practices, integrated fish farming, water analysis and feed formulation and value addition in fish.
Resource persons for the training, department of Fishery AFI, Dimapur, Theja – o Rulu deliberated on the status, market size, scope of fish processing in Nagaland and emphasised on the entrepreneurship opportunities of fishery products.
He also educated the participants on the health benefits of fishes, handling and freezing of fishery products, dressing/filleting, mince-based fishery products, and specialty fish products. The trainees were provided hands-on demon on feed and water analysis and various valued added fish products, etc.
ICAR NER (Fisheries Resource Management), Nagaland centre, Jharnapani, scientist, Dr. Jyotish Barman, encouraged the functionaries to motivate the farmers in the state in providing the quality fishes.
The valedictory programme was chaired by SAMETI deputy project director, Yezaho Swu. Certificates were distributed to the trainees by SAMETI director and IETC principal, Dr. Watimongla Jamir, and SAMETI DPD, Janet Chishi, delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the valedictory.
