SAMETI organises two-day training programme

State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised a two-day training programme on “farm journalism and production of mass media resources” for ATMA functionaries at SAMETI, Medziphema from February 8– 9.
A press release from SAMETI informed that resource persons for the training programme were assistant professor, department of Rural Development & Planning, NU: SASRD, Medziphema, Dr. Mary N. Odyuo and assistant professor, department of Agriculture Extension NU: SASRD, Medziphema, Dr. N.K. Patra.
The resource persons spoke on the topics of prospects of farm journalism and art of writing news in agriculture development.
During the second session, Dr. N.K. Patra emphasised on the role of mass media in modern agriculture development and how to disseminate agriculture innovation in the North East.
Later, an interaction session with the resource person in context with the modern era of social media and benefits towards the agriculture development was also conducted.
At the valedictory programme director SAMETI & principal IETC, Dr. Watimongla Jamir in her speech encouraged the participants to use the right platform of social media keeping in mind the vital roles that farm journalism and mass media played in modern agriculture development and reaching out to farmers through journals and photography.
The programme was chaired DPD SAMETI, Janet Chishi while feedback on the training was presented by ATM, Peren, Woshanthung Jamio and ATM, Mokokchung, Tsuktirenla Jamir.
The training programme concluded with distribution of certificates to participants while vote of thanks was proposed by DPD SAMETI, Yezaho Swu.
It may be mentioned that the training programme was aimed at equipping participants with technical know-how about art of farm journalism and the prospects of mass media in modern agriculture development in Nagaland.
