

The 27th biennial general conference of Satoi Range GBs Association (SRGBA) on the theme “unity our refuge” concluded on February 24, at Khuvuxu village, Satoi range under Zunheboto district.
Speaking at the programme as special guest, minister for Agriculture & Cooperation, G. Kaito Aye said Gaonburas (GBs) were guardians of the village administration.
In this regard, he urged upon the GBs to uphold the peace, unity and upliftment like their forefathers had done. He appealed to the GBs to live in principle and look after the affairs of public welfare with sincerity, honesty and dedication for progressive development in the region.
He also said that GBs should ensure all welfare schemes granted by the government be practically implemented for the benefit of the village community.
The minister informed that the “backward fund” allotted for Satoi block under department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA) would be supervised by SRGBA for development plans in future.
Kaito disclosed that Tribal Girls Hostel under tribal affairs would also be constructed at Satoi headquarters for the development in the region.
Meanwhile, AEO, department of education, Jolly K Awomi said that unity and mutual respect among Satoi community was the need of the hour.
She stated that government primary schools and high school under Satoi range required improvement in students’ enrolment and better academic results.
Jolly disclosed that in the recent years, academic performances of the students waned off and the enrolment had declined.
In this regard, she appealed to the students’ union to look into the student affairs for quality education in the region. She said asserted that divisions prevailing in different fields, worsened by “multiple factions among the Nagas and the Sumi community in particular” was one of the main factors holding them back towards positive growth.
At the programme on February 23, the programme was chaired by SRGBA general secretary Kakheto Aye, general secretary Vikiye Sumi as recorder, greeting message was delivered by Anglers Association Nagaland president, Phukato Zhimomi while SRGBA president Kaito K Zhimo delivered the presidential address.
SRBGA further informed that the 29th union, Satoi Range GBs Association would be hosted by Tsutoho village.
