Satoi Range Students’ Union celebrates golden jubilee

Satoi Range Students’ Union (STKK) celebrated its golden jubilee under the theme “towards new hope” from January 7 to 9 at Satoi Town.

SRSU, which started 50 years ago with “Zenith our Zest” as its motto, marked the three -day long celebration by reflecting upon the accomplishments and strides the union has made over the years and to embark on a journey of new hope.

Minister for Agriculture and Co-operation, G. Kaito Aye graced the inaugural function as special guest. He unfurled the union flag besides unveiling the jubilee memorial monolith. He challenged the students to prepare themselves to give back to society because they will be leaders of tomorrow.

S. Kavito Aomi, former president of the union and Assistant Director, Food and Civil Supplies, Nagaland was the special guest of cultural session wherein he called upon to students to give much emphasis on preserving one’s own cultural heritage and its values. 

The theme session was graced by Dr. Hutton Sumi, pastor, Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto. 

As the speaker, he stressed on the theme of the jubilee and said that the world never cease to revolve and so does the progress of the people. “What new beginning that we make today and pursuing the same with determination will yield fruit of success in days to come and that will in turn add to the progress of the society”, he said.

Another former president of the union, K. Atovi Awomi, president, All Nagaland PWD Field Workers Association graced the introductory session and paid homage to the pioneers of the union.

Assistant Director, Industry and Commerce, government of Nagaland, Khekihe K. Zhimo, who is also one of the former presidents of the union, said in the valedictory session that one’s identity is what one achieves in life. Speaking as a special guest, he called upon the students to be resolute in their studies in order to become successful in life.

The jubilee also witnessed colourful display of rich cultural extravaganza and a number of cultural and literary competitions.

Renowned Sumi artists – Zakato Awomi, Abel Assumi and N. K. Naga, Bollywood playback singer were among others, who entertained the attendees of the celebration.
