The weeklong “youth advance training programme” organised by Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) in collaboration with various government departments and organisations culminated at Thiazu, Mima village under Kohima district on Friday.
In a press release, SAYO information & publicity informed that during the valedictory function, advisor for Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha said advancement in the society will start with commitment of the youth, who will decide to reverse negative aspects from the individual level.
He expressed hope that the youth training will bear deep meaning and inspire youth to explore their strength and resources to build dynamic society through a renewed perspective.
The advisor said that society would not progress if people confined themselves to complacency, negativities and rigid mindsets.
Pointing out that the region was home of opportunities and resources, Yhokha said the training was an investment in the youth to nurture and identify skills to rise above their comfort zones and create platforms.
During the training programme, department of Tourism imparted sessions on areas of tourism and tourist guide.
Nagaland Association for Adventure & Mountaineering Education (NAAME) conducted practical session on trekking, tour guiding tips and techniques, sports, mountaineering and yoga while District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kohima conducted disaster response demonstration and training.
Other training and activities included physical fitness training and arm-wrestling competition.
Altogether, 87 youth from 13 villages of Southern Angami region received certificates of completion and identity cards as tourist guides and SAYO advanced team.
