National Youth Day under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) Peren was celebrated Thursday at St. Xavier College (SXC) Jalukie with MP (Rajya Sabha), S Phangnon Konyak as the special guest.
A press release by SXC Jalukie stated that in her address, Phangnon highlighted the different advancements of the nation and urged all to strive for higher status in line with the goals set by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. She applauded the successful presence and extensive impact of St. Xavier College Jalukie over the past many years. In his greetings, SXC Jalukie principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis highlighted the ongoing efforts of the college in providing possibilities for the youths of the region and the society in general.
The programme was also attended by DC Peren, Vineet Kumar. A melodious Zeliang tune was presented by Zaiwang, voice of Swami Vivekananda by Salomi Shanga and the Xavierite Rongmei steps were other attractions of the day. The week-long youth celebrations included road safety awareness program, cleanliness drive, declamation contest, cultural exhibition, etc., awards for youth contests and meritorious awards for students were also given in the programme. The session was compered by Omega Konyak and vote of thanks was delivered by Fidelis.
