Sensitisation on clean election movement

A “Clean Election Sensitisation Programme” was jointly organised by Clean Election Movement, Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) and Department of Political Science, Kohima College, Kohima on February 3.
According to media cell of Kohima College Kohima, resource persons were Dr Villo Naleo, convenor, Clean Election Movement, NBCC and Huzo Meru, director of Operations, North East Christian University & also Trustee of South India Christian Institute, Bangalore; both were alumni of Kohima College, Kohima.
The programme began with the moderator, Ase Yalie, Assistant Professor, department of Political Science introducing the speakers, which was followed by an invocation as well a welcome address by Dr Libanthung Ngullie, principal, Kohima College.
Dr Villo Naleo in his speech spoke on the impact and necessity of Clean Election Movement in Nagaland and why it may not be progressing. Dr Naleo clarified that election politics was not dirty by itself but ascribed due to the way it was practiced.
Huzo Meru, a former Western Angami candidate, 2013, referred to his own experiences as well as rectified some common misconceptions against Clean Election Movement.
