Shanavas inaugurates photo exhibition at JNV Kohima

To commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence, Field Outreach Bureau (FOB), Bureau of Outreach & Communication, ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Kohima organised an integrated communication and outreach programme/photo exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the school hall, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), here, on Saturday.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, principal director, School Education, Shanavas C urged upon the students to inculcate the unique history of Indian freedom struggle and “not only study for the sake of examination.”
He emphasised on the importance of hard work and dedication with an effort to achieve something and turn them into hard-working adults.
PD also urged upon the students not to be influenced by negativity around them rather unite so that the country would progress.
In her welcome address, head of office, field exhibition officer, P Sophie said the event was a humble initiative to remember the forgotten heroes of the Indian freedom struggle, many of whom might be renowned yet unknown to the new generation.
She informed that that the aim was to recreate and bring stories and photographs which remained faded memories of the past and serve as medium of inspiration and encouragement for coming generations.
Sophie said with the arrival of technology, the youth hardly had time to remember the rich heritage and past.
She said while the nation celebrated Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, it was most crucial to reach out to the younger generation and let them know about the nation’s rich history.
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is not only a celebration of how far the country has come but also a reminder of how it began the journey as an independent nation, she shared.
Udaigiri emerged as the winner of the quiz competition while Shiwalik and Arawali secured the second and third positions respectively.
Under the category of painting competition, Matheo (XII) bagged the first prize while Shabana (X) and Rokoyole (XI) bagged the second and third positions respectively.
PGT economics S. Atheni moderated the event while HoO, FOB Kohima P Sophie delivered the welcome address.
Students of class XII (science stream) presented a special number while Nilgiri girls, class XI (girls) performed a dance and a vote of thanks was proposed by principal Besü Kollo.
