St Joseph’s College alumni celebrate silver jubilee

St Joseph’s College (autonomous), Jakhama, alumni association, celebrated its silver jubilee under the theme, ‘Igniting Oneness’ at the college campus, on Friday.
Guest speaker, Commissioner of Taxes, Government of Nagaland, Thejawelie Grogory, while conveying jubilee greetings said the college had developed a lot over the years.
He said a college was the stepping stone to achieve one’s aspirations, however, after attaining any level of success one should not digress from performing their duty towards the society.
He pointed out that educational institutions instill responsibility and human values apart from academics.
He credited the principals and lecturers for making the students become responsible and successful citizens.
Gregory called on the attendance of alumni and students to come out of their comfort zones as this was key to achieving goals targeted to change.
He reminded the gathering that there was no substitute to hardwork and that every individual had their own respective roles to play in the society.
Principal of the college and patron of the association, Rev. Dr. Fr. George Keduolhou Angami, while speaking on the theme, said the fundamental reason behind the meet was to create opportunity for the college to show love and affection towards their former students and to celebrate their achievements.
He disclosed that every year the college submits Annual Quality Assurance Report to NAAC, while Alumni Association activities and contributions were asked to be provided.
Sharing memories, founder president and 1985 batch of the college, advocate Kezhokhoto Savi, highlighted on the need for the alumni to share with the society whatever they have learnt at the college.
Organising committee co-convenor, Dr. Medonuo Pienyü, extended the jubilee greetings.
A jubilee memorial basketball match was also organized after the formal programme.
Earlier, the celebration was chaired by 2020 alumni, Natalia Rhütso and invocation by Rev Dr Fr Pezalhoukho George.
Alumni association president I Yanger, delivered the president’s address while jubilee planning committee convenor, Kiviboto Sheqi proposed the vote of thanks.
