State need to adopt modern technology in agriculture: Yanthan

Advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan on Wednesday called for adoption of modern technology in agriculture sector to increase productivity and production.
He said this at the introductory meeting with the department of Agriculture at Hotel Vivor. Pointing out that Agriculture was the backbone of the economy, Yanthan encouraged the department officials to assist and empower the famers with the help of the technologies to improve their yields and profitability. He also briefed the department officers on the benefits of the integrated farming system and advised them to encourag the famers to adopt integrated system of farming. Agriculture Production Commissioner, R.Binchilo Thong in his speech, reminded the field officers to compulsorily remain in their respective places of posting as the main Kharif cropping season is approaching. He also urged the officers to disseminated necessary agricultural advisory to the farmers in time. At the introductory meeting, power point presentation on overview of the department activities and action plan was highlighted by additional director, Jacob Yanthan. The meeting was chaired by director of Agriculture M.Ben Yanthan and vote of thanks was delivered by additional director Peter.
