Northern Angami Students’ Union (NASU) on June 25 held a felicitation programme for HSLC and HSSLC students at Ura Academy, Kohima.
In a press release, NASU informed that the union acknowledged a total of 16 students—five toppers, seven subject toppers and two award recipients under HSLC category, and five toppers, three subject toppers and one award recipient under HSSLC category.
Guest speaker, director of Economics and Statistics, Neidilhou Angami emphasised on the importance of being “one step ahead of others” by living a God fearing and respectful life.
He urged upon the young students to practice genuine humility in spite of their successes and stay grounded despite all circumstances.
Short speeches were also delivered by Northern Angami Women Organisation (NAWO) president, Thinuoheü Loucü, who encouraged students to value and practice speaking their mother tongue – Tenyidie; Northern Angami Public Organisation (NAPO) president, Zeneituo Yano implied that in order to acquire wealth, one must first seek knowledge and that bookish knowledge and wisdom should go hand in hand while Northern Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (NAGOK) challenged students to become job creators and not job seekers.
Earlier, NASU vice president, Atouzo Kerhüo delivered welcome address while pastor Khriezosietuo Kire offered invocation.
Later, NASU assistant general secretary, Pelesielie Khro proposed vote of thanks.
NKK & NSU: Nerhema Krotho Kohima (NKK) and Nerhema Students’ Union (NSU) on June 24, felicitated three toppers of HSSLC and all 113 successful candidates of HSLC from Nerhezou community at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima.
In a press release, NSU informed that guest speaker, executive engineer (EE), department of Water Resources, Er. Sobou Kerhüo advised students to put God first in everything.
He also challenged the students to come out of their comfort zones, maintain social media hygiene and to focus on their ambitions.
Meanwhile, NSU president, Letuozo Patrick Kiewhuo felicitated the students, Ruokuohenuo Virie (rank 9, arts stream) delivered a speech on behalf of students while former NPSC chairman, T.S. Angami emphasised on importance of setting goals and being prompt at making sacrifices for achieving our ambitions.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by NKK president, Rükhievituo Kerhüo, Central CRC Kohima youth director, Thepfulhouzo Tsürho and senior pastor Koinonia Baptist Church, Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo offered invocation and thanksgivings prayer for the successful candidates respectively.
RSUC: The newly formed Rongmei Student’s Union, Chümoukedima (RSUC) held its first felicitation programme for successful candidates of the HSLC & HSSLC.
In a press release, RSUC informed that during the programme, Alin Kamei urged the students to have a dream on what to do in life and to be determined in the midst of difficulties.
Meanwhile, guest of honour, Rongmei Council Chümoukedima, Meilungrei Emmanuel Panmei said at times, life will offer lucrative jobs in between, however, he advised the students to complete their education first and then venture out with an aim.
The successful students were presented with certificates and memento.
Earlier, invocation was offered by former Catechist, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Diphupar, K Kalan, welcome note by general secretary Elizabeth Dangmei while students from Diphupar presented a traditional Rongmei song.
Later, vote of thanks was proposed by education & statistics secretary, Gaidinlung Dangmei.
