Students sensitised on cybercrime

With an objective to spread awareness of cybercrime among students, a “Cyber Jagrookta (awareness) Diwas 2022” was organised by Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur in collaboration with “Women Empowerment Cell”, Pranabananda Women’s College (PWC) Dimapur on November 7 at PWC premises.
A press release by the college informed that delivering a talk on cybercrime, resource person, UBSI, CP Office Dimapur, Asabo Newmai stressed on the benefits of being “cyber hygienic” and advised the students not to click the link sent from unknown sources, to activate the two-step verification on social media platforms and not to accept friend requests from unknown persons or from duplicate friend profiles.
He also advised the students to be cautious while installing different apps on their mobile phones and allowing permission requests from those apps.
Delivering a talk on “Crime against Women”, resource person, UBSI Women police Station, Dimapur Tsekhumla informed that the crime against women has increased by 15% as per NCRB report in the year 2021. She highlighted the students about the different types of crime that took place in society and encouraged the students to create awareness about such crimes against women.
The programme was chaired by PWC assistant professor (department of political science) Themneingah Hanneng; welcome address was delivered by convenor, women empowerment cell, PWC, Gracia K Jimo and an introduction talk was delivered by UBI Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur, Among Jamir.
