Sumi Hoho (SH) and Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS), the apex body of Chang, on Friday felicitated the newly elected legislators from Sumi and Chang communities at a separate programmes held on April 28 at Zunheboto Town Hall and CKS Hall Tuensang respectively.
According to a DIPR report, SH president, Nikheto Zhimomi, in his welcome address, congratulated all the winning candidates and encouraged them to be united at all times. He also requested the legislators to establish a B. Ed center at Zunheboto for the students’ community and also the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Zunheboto. Speaking at the programme, minister of Road and Bridges G. Kaito Aye stressed on the importance of electing candidates for consecutive terms and having confidence in the candidates. He further said that the present MLAs were young and dynamic and have all practical experiences for bringing about all-round development and therefore urged the Sumis to have patience. He advised the students to not only depend on political leaders for their future but rather focus on quality education and prepare themselves for competitive exams.
Minister of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi urged the Sumi to uplift the legacy of faithfulness and loyalty of their forefathers and to maintain the spirit of brotherhood in every walk of life. He appealed to the Sumis to be responsible citizens and extend support and cooperation to government for any kind of developmental activities.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by SH general secretary, Dr. Vihuto Asumi and invocation by NCRC pastor, Kughavi Chishi.
Sumi Kukami Hoho, president, Kashito Yeptho delivered the greetings, vote of thanks by SH vice president, Hokishe Kiba and the programme concluded with a prayer of blessing upon the legislators by executive secretary of SBAK Nito Mount, Rev. Kughato Chophi.
CKS felicitates: Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) at its 78th executive session-cum-felicitation programme, feliciated minister of PWD Housing and Mechanical Engineering, Beshangmongba Chang, Lima Onen MLA and Imtichuba MLA and chairman DBDP Tuensang.
CKS president, Nusanglemba Chang congratulated the three legislatures and thanked them for abiding by the rules and regulations set up by CKS for the peaceful conduct of the recent election. He expressed the hope that three elected members will continue to work for the upliftment and development of the Chang community in the coming days.
At the function, a short speeches were delivered by CWS president, Pongsu, minster Beshangmongba Chang, Lima Onen MLA and Imtichuba MLA.
The programme was chaired by CKS vice president, Sipong. The programme was attended by tribal bodies, Chang Gazetted Officers Association (CGOA), Chang Wedoshi Setshang (CWS), Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CST), and executive members of different villages in Tuensang.
