A-Yhome FC and Magdaline Coaching FC emerged victorious in pool-B matches of the ongoing Kohima Super Cup here on Wednesday.
In the first match, A-Yhome FC beat Aphuyemi FC by a single goal and emerged as a strong contender for the two semi-finalist slots from pool-B.
The lone goal was scored by Vilhoubeituo in the 37th second of the match, the fasted goal of the tournament so far.
Both the teams had some close calls throughout the game with numerous attempts but were unsuccessful and eventually Aphuyemi had to concede defeat.
In fourth quarter final match, Magdaline Coaching FC overpowered Barak FC 2-1.
Magdaline took an early lead after Dupisa Pucho scored in the 15th minute.
The first half ended 1-0 Magdaline FC in the front seat. After the break, Barak in search of equalizer came back strongly but could not find a way to score. It was in the 80th minute, Barak’s star player Bodo Jr. netted the much needed goal which brought back the smiles on the faces of his teammates and its fans.
However, their happiness was short-lived as Kelengol scored the second and seal the deal for Magdaline in the first minute of the additional four minutes’ time.
With their wins on Wednesday, A-Yhome and Magdaline are also now at par with the two losing teams Barak and Aphuyemi who had earlier won a match each.
Now all the teams in Pool-B have a win and a loss each and therefore the next two league matches for the group will be crucial.
