Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie has congratulated NDPP-BJP alliance on receiving absolute mandate of the people, but expressed “mixed feelings” about whether the verdict was of EVMs or that of the people.
In a press release, NPCC president K Therie said it was “another sad day” for all Congressmen, women and well-wishers and apologised for the “weaknesses and shortcomings.”
State Congress chief said the party in the past five years, despite of its nil presence in the state Assembly, had been upholding the interests of the people, which the party thought was important for Nagaland. However, he said the Congress party found itself to be alone.
Therie said that the verdict was also against the civil society groups that were protesting for solution. He said the verdict also weakened Christian society before the world.
“We gave an election manifesto wherein we have promised to change Nagaland however, this remains rejected by the majority,” Therie said.
