TKM protest to continue; AKM asks state govt to address issue

Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) while extending support to Tzürangkong Kaketshir Mungdang’s (TKM) demand to post adequate number of teachers in all government schools in Tzürangkong, urged the concerned department to address the issue immediately, adding that TKM would continue its agitation until their demands were fulfilled .
After visiting Tzürangkong on Monday, AKM said they were surprised to see that the villages in Tzürangkong area were hiring private teachers to teach students in government schools due to shortage of subject teachers.
AKM said in some schools the number of teachers were fewer than the number of classrooms, making it impossible to conduct regular classes, as one teacher cannot teach in two classrooms at the same time.
AKM, therefore, demanded that the government should at least provide basic requirement of adequate teachers immediately in the interest of the students.
In this regard, AKM said the agitation will continue and all schools and EBRC in Tzürangkong will remain closed unless TKM demands were met.
AKM also expressed regret that the department concerned was yet to communicate with the aggrieved party to listen to their grievances, let alone fulfilling their demands, and wondered what was wrong with the government.
