Top militant held with1.375 kg of Heroin in Manipur

A top militant was arrested with 1.375 kg of Heroin (No.4) powder in Manipur on Wednesday, officials said.
A team of Narcotic and Affairs of Border (NAB) of Manipur police arrested the “defense PRO” of the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) along with 1.375kg of Heroin powder on Wednesday, the official source said.
The arrested cadre was identified as Lhunthanglen Touthang (40) of L Chalmol village of Chandel district presently residing at Vajing village of Churachandpur district.
The NAB team stopped the vehicle (Maruti Suzuki Swift car -AS 01 DP/ 7348) while he was traveling along Tiddim Road at Kwakta Bazar in Bishnupur district and conducted a check.
During the frisking, the NAB team recovered 1.375 kg of Heroin powder packed in 110 soap cases which were found concealed at the rear seat of the car.
During preliminary spot investigation, the police revealed that the arrested person is a cadre of Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) which is under suspension of operation with the government.
He is presently serving as defense PRO for the organization. A case was registered with NAB PS for investigation, the source said.
In another operation, a team of Kakching district police on Thursday arrested three persons along with 689 gram of Heroin powder.
A team of police commandos of the district intercepted the three persons on a Maruti Van (AR03-3555) coming from Pallel side during a check at Leimanai Chingjin CDO check-post on Thursday, around 11.30 am.
The driver of the Van was identified Paominlal Misao (20) of T Tonglhang village in Moreh of Tengnoupal district, Lhunkhopao Baite (33) of H Wanomjang village of Tengnoupal district and Lamkholhing (61) wife of Onkhongam of HT Gamnomphai village, of Tengnoupal district.
During the search of the vehicle they were travelling, the police commando personnel recovered 689 gram of Heroin packed in 55 soap cases which were found concealed in the modified fuel tank of the vehicle.
The arrested persons along with the seized articles were handed over to Kakching police station for taking up further necessary legal action, the source said.
