District Health Society (DHS) Tuensang organised a two-day training on “paediatric care COVID-19 for doctors and nurses” in the conference hall of the District Hospital Tuensang from June 28-29.
In a press release, DMO, NHM Tuensang, Apheang informed that during the programme, resource person, MO District Hospital Tuensang, Dr. Zerila Sangtam briefed on the importance of Etiology, family clustering, community transmission, incubation period, diagnosis and management of COVID-19, samples for testing, management of mild COVID-19.
She also highlighted WHO: case classification, mild disease, symptomatic treatment, supportive care, specific antiviral and other drugs, case definition for moderate diseases, etc.
On day two of the training, the nurses were trained on the importance of COVID-19 in neonatal age learning objectives, case definition- neonate, testing for neonate, delivery room care of new born-born to COVID suspect/positive mother, neonatal manifestations, rooming-in, breast feeding & Kangaroo mother care (KMC), support breast feeding, promote KMC, immunisation & family participation, communication & counselling follow-up, extra precautions during paediatric COVID and clinical features.
