Training for SHGs in Mokokchung

Two-day training on “value addition of agriculture commodities” and “cultivation of oyster mushroom” was organised by department of agriculture Mokokchung for Self Help groups (SHGs) on October 13 and October 14 at Mopungchuket village and Yimchalu village respectively.

A press release by the department stated that in a welcome address, agriculture officer Kajenchila Longchar highlighted the objectives of the training.

She spoke about the different roles of women SHGs in agriculture and their impact in empowering women, boosting employment opportunities and income generation.

 Longchar also encouraged the trainees to be open to new opportunities and to never cease to learn new ideas and techniques.

Resource person agriculture technology manager ATMA, Nuksungienla Jamir carried out a hands-on-training on the “post-harvest processing of turmeric and pineapple” for the women SHG at Mopungchuket Village and on “cultivation of oyster mushroom” at Yimchalu Village. 

Practical procedures for processing of turmeric and pineapple and cultivation of oyster mushroom were demonstrated in detail during the training.
